ZACH MACLURG - TROMBONE
About
Human, musician, trombone player. I grew up in Washington State, but have found myself on the East and West coasts learning the different styles of trombone playing at Central Washington University with John Neurohr and the Manhattan School of Music with Per Brevig. I've had the privilege of performing with a number of orchestras including the Spokane Symphony, Tacoma City Ballet, Olympia Symphony, Yakima Symphony and Wenatchee Valley Symphony, and in renowned halls such as Carnegie Hall in New York and Benaroya Hall in Seattle. Passionate about chamber music, I have had the opportunity to work closely on trombone and brass repertoire with the likes of Dave Taylor and David Finlayson, as well as masterclasses with Joseph Alessi and Jesper Juul. Winning the MSM Lillian Fuchs Chamber Music Competition twice and the MusicFest Northwest chamber brass competition are just a couple of highlights from my collaborations with others. Not one to put myself in the Classical "box," I also actively play tenor and bass trombone in big bands and enjoy making and recording trombone arrangements of videogame and film music. Outside of trombone, I can often be found kayaking, fishing, and even dabbling a bit in bonsai.
